What is LN function in Excel?

LN function is one of the Math and Trig functions in Microsoft Excel that returns the natural logarithm of a number. Natural logarithms are based on the constant e (2.71828182845904).

Syntax of LN function

LN(number)

The LN function syntax has the following arguments:

  • Number: The positive real number for which you want the natural logarithm.

LN formula explanation

LN is the inverse of the EXP function.

Example of LN function

Steps to follow:

1. Open a new Excel worksheet.

2. Copy data in the following table below and paste it in cell A1

Note: For formulas to show results, select them, press F2 key on your keyboard and then press Enter.

You can adjust the column widths to see all the data, if need be.
