What is EXP function in Excel?

EXP function is one of the Math and Trig functions in Microsoft Excel that returns e raised to the power of number. The constant e equals 2.71828182845904, the base of the natural logarithm.

Syntax of EXP function

EXP(number)

The EXP function syntax has the following arguments:

  • Number: The exponent applied to the base e.

EXP formula explanation

  • To calculate powers of other bases, use the exponentiation operator (^).
  • EXP is the inverse of LN, the natural logarithm of number.

Example of EXP function

Steps to follow:

1. Open a new Excel worksheet.

2. Copy data in the following table below and paste it in cell A1

Note: For formulas to show results, select them, press F2 key on your keyboard and then press Enter.

You can adjust the column widths to see all the data, if need be.
